Muremio

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 8, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Muremio ("the app", "we") handles information when you use the application. Our guiding principle is simple: your recordings and transcriptions are processed and stored on your own device. We do not operate servers that receive your audio or your notes.

Everything on your device
On-device transcription
No accounts or servers

1. Information We Handle

Muremio is designed to work without the need for an account or a connection to our own servers. The data the app generates is:

  • Audio recordings that you create within the app.
  • Text transcriptions generated from those recordings.
  • Note metadata, such as titles, categories, and favorite markers, which you edit yourself.
  • Files you choose to attach from your photo library or device storage.

All of this information is stored locally on your device's storage(in the app's documents directory). We do not send, upload, or sync it to any server of ours.

We do not collect: your name, email address, location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or any other personal data, since the app requires no registration or sign-in.

2. Speech-to-Text Transcription

Transcription of your audio notes is performed entirely on the device(on-device), using the system's speech recognition engines. The audio you record is not sent to the internet or to external servers to be transcribed.

3. Permissions the App Requests

  • Microphone: required to record your audio notes.
  • Speech recognition: required to transcribe your audio notes locally, on the device itself.
  • Photo library / files: required only if you choose to attach an existing audio or media file to a note.

You can revoke these permissions at any time from your operating system settings; doing so may limit some of the app's features.

4. Third Parties and External Services

Muremio does not use third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash reporting services. We do not share information with advertisers or sell it to anyone, because we do not collect it in the first place.

5. Security

Because your data stays on your device, its security depends primarily on the protections of your own operating system (screen lock, device encryption, etc.). We recommend keeping your device protected with a lock method.

6. Deleting Your Data

You can delete your notes and recordings at any time from within the app. When you uninstall Muremio, all data stored locally by the app (recordings, transcriptions, and notes) is removed along with the application.

7. Children

Muremio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children, given that the app does not collect personal data from any user.

8. Changes to This Policy

If Muremio adds features in the future that require cloud processing (for example, user accounts or syncing), we will update this policy to clearly reflect that before those features become available.
